Cherry Jam is delicious for breakfast or desserts. We love it served with Pound Cake. It's also really good with white cheddar cheese for dessert. For cleaning and pitting cherries, see our technique for Canning Cherries.
We make most jams using the same procedure, regardless of the fruit. Using the ingredients below, follow our technique for Making Jam, with a 15 minute cook time, and then Canning Jam.
Ingredients per 1/2 pint of jam:
Cherries
1 pound per 1/2 pint jam jar
Water
1/8 cup per 1/2 pint jam jar
Sugar
1 cup for each pound of fruit
Lemon (organic or chemical free)
1 for every three 1/2 pint jars
