Making and Canning Fig and Apple Jam
We love this combination of fruits.
We make most jams using the same procedure, regardless
of the fruit. Using the ingredients below, follow our
technique for
Making Jam,
with a 30 minute cook time,
and then
Canning Jam
.
Ingredients per 1/2 pint of jam:
Figs
3/4 pound per 1/2 pint jam jar
Apples - sour are preferred
1/4 pounds per 1/2 pint jam jar
Water
1/8 cup per 1/2 pint jam jar
Sugar
3/4 cup for each pound of fruit
Lemon (organic or chemical free)
1 for every three 1/2 pint jars
