Making and Canning Strawberry Jam
Strawberry jam is easy to make at home.
Using the recipe below, mix the ingredients, slowly bring to a rapid boil and
stir often until it jells. Cover overnight and then return to high heat before
Canning Jam.
Ingredients per 1/2 pint (8 ounces) of jam:

Strawberries - hulled
|
1/2 pound per 1/2 pint jam jar
|
Pectin
|
per manufacturer's instructions
|
Sugar
|
1/2 cup for each 1/2 pint jam jar
|
Lemon juice
|
1-1/2 tablespoons per 1/2 pint jar
|

Other ideas:
- May be made chunky by not chopping the berries, or smooth by lightly chopping the
berries before adding them to the pot.
